About
Cardiff Metropolitan University’s history can be traced back to 1865 when they opened their School of Art in the Old Fee Library in Cardiff. Since then, they have developed into a university and remained rooted in Wales, offering students from all across the globe professional and practice-focused education. The university has a total of three campuses – Cyncoed Campus, Plas Gwyn Residential Campus, and the Llandaff Campus. The Cyncoed Campus in particular offers fantastic sporting facilities and houses the main office for Students as well as the Athletics Union.
Their Llandaff Campus provides excellent sporting facilities also as well as a student union, coffee bars including Starbucks and Costa Coffee and an on-site shop. The campus is situated just two miles from the city center where it is surrounded by many beautiful parks, playing fields, and the historic village of Llandaff. Their other campus – the Plas Gwyn Residential Campus is primarily known for its safe and comfortable accommodation offerings. The university has over 33,190 students, 11,000 of which are international students.
Postgraduate Programs They Run
Cardiff Metropolitan University provides a wide range of postgraduate programs spanning topics such as finance, health, computer science, creative writing, marketing, languages, fashion, and more. Some of the awards their postgraduate programs offer include Master of Science (MSc), Postgraduate Diploma (DGDip), Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert), Master of Art (MA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), and LLM (Master of Law). Accommodation
Cardiff Metropolitan University is committed to providing students with safe and secure accommodation. They have almost 1000 study bedrooms situated in their Cyncoed and Plas Gwyn campuses. They also allocate more than 650 private en-suite halls to students via nomination agreements with private halls in close proximity to the campuses. The Cyncoed Halls is situated on landscaped grounds and students can access a range of sporting facilities free of charge. They also have access to 24-hour computer labs, many cafes, and on-site laundry. The halls are situated nearby local shops at Lakeside, with the student hub of Roath and Cathays being only a 5-minute bus ride away. You will have access to a large common room where you can socialise, bike storage, and parking.
All students staying here get free internet and TV. The rent prices vary but you can expect to pay between £122 and £131 for a room with a bed and study area. Some have en-suite bathrooms while others have shared bathroom facilities. The Plas Gwyn Campus offers similar accommodation but has other facilities which include a multi-use games arena, data room, and vending machines on-site. Bars, shops, restaurants, and banks are just 5 minutes walk away. Students living here have access to free Wi-Fi and bike storage. A number of events are arranged each month to encourage students living here to socialise and meet new people too.
