College of Agriculture, Food & Rural Enterprise

About

The College of Agriculture, Food & Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) provides students with the opportunity to complete programs that will lead them into a career in rural and agri-food businesses. CAFRE has three campuses in Cookstown in Loughry, Enniskillen, and Antrim. They provide numerous courses across food, agriculture, horticulture, and equine. Their Antrim campus is the centre of all things green which makes for the perfect backdrop when studying land-based courses. The campus has fantastic facilities including conference rooms, teaching rooms, and accommodation.

In fact, their horticulture facilities are considered the best in the UK. The 200 hectares surrounding the campus offer agriculture facilities for dairying, arable, and lowland beef farming. In addition, the college has recently built an incredible Fairy Centre for 180 cows and a 32-point parlour. There is also the Hills Farm Centre which includes nearly 1000 hectares of hill land with 100 suckler cows and 1,100 breeding ewes which is managed in an environmentally sustainable manner to protect habitats and promote wildlife. The Antrim campus also provides student housing for approximately 200 students.
