Good news for international students as travel restrictions have decreased in UK
There is more positive news for international students who are hoping to study or travel to the UK.
The announcement comes just a few weeks after the UK government also announced that all international students will be eligible to receive a free Covid-19 vaccination whilst studying in UK universities.
Now that travel restrictions have been eased even more, this means that students from around the world can study in and travel with more ease into the UK.
In the last number of days it was announced that India, Bahrain, Qatar and the UAE are set to be removed from the UK’s red list and into the amber list which means those travelling from afar will no longer have to do their 11 day hotel quarantine. The amber list means these countries are no longer considered as high-risk countries.
Meanwhile, countries including Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Latvia, Romania and Norway are among seven countries being added to the quarantine-free green list.
The government also announced that all adults from the EU no longer need to be quarantined on arrival into the UK on the condition that they are fully vaccinated.
These eased restrictions apply to all countries except for France, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland – and the European microstates of Andorra, Monaco and Vatican City.
While there are still precautions and restrictions in place, the easing of restrictions means that there may be more opportunity for international students to study in UK universities.
As it stands, universities are set to return in September in small groups and hope to be able to carry out face-to-face classes with safety precautions in place. Students across the UK and Ireland have mostly done their university online since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.
If there is one thing we know it is that anything can change depending on Covid-19 so these plans are not set in stone.
