Leeds Conservatoire is a leading conservatoire providing undergraduate and postgraduate programs across jazz, music production, popular music, classical music, music business, drama, and more. They first opened in 1965 as Leeds Music Centre and have since broadened their diverse portfolio to include performing arts. Leeds Conservatoire delivers expert music and performing arts education to more than 1200 students. Situated in the centre of Leeds’ cultural quarter, it proves to be a great place to study, particularly because Leeds has a great arts and music scene.

Types of Postgraduate Programs They Run

Leeds Conservatoire provides a range of postgraduate programs. They cover topics such as music, dramaturgy, musical direction, musical theatre, and more. The award classifications their postgraduate level degrees offer include Master of Art (MA) and Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip).

Admissions Process

Those looking to join undergraduate programs should make their application via the UCAS. To do this, visit the UCAS website and fill out your application. You will be asked for the course code and institution code; these can be easily found on the Leeds Conservatoire website. After you have submitted your application, the admissions team will review it and contact you. Postgraduate applicants can apply directly on the Leeds Conservatoire website. To do this, visit the page of your chosen course and press the apply button. You will then be redirected to an online application form. Once you have sent this off, the admissions team will review it and contact you.

Accommodation

Leeds Conservatoire has an agreement with two accommodation providers and does not own any accommodation. The accommodation available ranges from £144 per week to £209 per week. This rent includes broadband, insurance, electricity costs, and water. Most of the bedrooms are in shared flats and do not exceed £167 per week. What’s more, all accommodation is a short walking distance from the conservatoire. You will have a bedroom with a bed, wardrobe, desk, and chair as well as storage. Bathroom and shower facilities are generally shared in addition to kitchen and living areas.

Scholarships and Financial Support

Leeds Conservatoire has a range of scholarships and bursaries available to students. Some of these include the Leeds Conservatoire Bursary which awards up to £800 per year to students from low-income households and the Alan Hawkshaw Foundation Scholarship which awards £1,500 per year. This is for students who play particular instruments or demonstrate exceptional potential during auditions. There are also a number of scholarships for international students.
