Liverpool John Moores University dates back to 1823 when it started as Liverpool Mechanics School of Arts. Also known as LJMU, it is an open research university that officially received university status in 1992. The university is located in Liverpool and has a total of three campuses – I M Marsh Campus, City Campus, and Mount Pleasant Campus. These campuses have excellent infrastructure and facilities. The City Campus houses some of the major ones while the Mount Pleasant Campus houses the Faculty of Law and Business.

The I M Marsh Campus is where the Community, Education, and Leisure faculty is situated and it is located in Aigburth. They are the 35th largest university in the country by total student population. They have more than 23,000 students that come from over 100 countries. The university provides 250 programs that span a wide range of subject matter. They also have a fantastic Students’ Union that allows people to get involved in recreational activities and make new friends.

Accommodation

New students at Liverpool John Moores University are guaranteed accommodation in the heart of the city centre, with easy access to the University campuses. However, the accommodation is also open to returning students, postgraduate students, and international students too. All accommodation has a laundrette on-site and some also have other facilities such as parking and gyms. Room types vary with some being bigger and having their own private en-suite bathroom and others simply having a washbasin in the room and a shared facility instead. Rooms will have at a minimum a bed, wardrobe, shelving, a desk, and a chair. Kitchen and living areas are generally shared and make for good social spaces.
