Research Finds University of Dundee is the Most Affordable for Students

Recent research has discovered the University of Dundee is the cheapest university for students in the UK. Oxford Royale, the international education provide analysed the cities in the Complete University Guide’s (CUG) top 40 universities.

Using this data, they were able to find where UK students can live at the most affordable cost. Their analysis was based on the average cost of student housing in addition to prices for taxis, fast food meals, and alcoholic beverages.

The University of Dundee came out on top with an average weekly spending of approximately £157. The city provides the third most affordable student housing at a weekly rent of £106 and has the most affordable taxi rates at £10.

Coming second was Newcastle University, Northumbria University, and the University of Aberdeen which have a total spend of £161 per week. Third place went to the University of Liverpool with a total spend of £170 per week. Liverpool has the fourth most affordable rent for students with average rates of £109 weekly.

London came out as the most expensive city for students to live with an average weekly spend of £302. The average cost of a student shared flat in London is £211 per week and the average taxi rate for a five-mile journey is £26.
