About

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama was established in 1906 as the Central School of Speech Training and Dramatic Art. They offer a new kind of training in drama and speech for young actors and other students. They became a constituent of the University of London in 2005 and are members of both the Conservatoires UK and the Federation of Drama Schools. They provide numerous postgraduate, undergraduate, short courses, and research degrees across topics such as performance, movement, musical theatre, crafts, design, drama therapy, puppetry, scenography, stage management, technical arts, voice and writing, and more. They have a long list of well-known alumni that have gone on to become leaders in their respective fields. In addition, their campus is based in London which has a fantastic arts and culture scene as well as a plethora of shops, restaurants, cafés, and bars to socialise.

Types of Postgraduate Programs They Run

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama has a variety of postgraduate-level degree programs to choose from. Topics they explore include acting, theatre practice, training and coaching, creative producing, drama and movement therapy, musical theatre, voice studies, writing for stage, and more. The main award classification their postgraduate programs offer is Master of Art (MA).

Accommodation

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama receives an annual allocation of rooms at the University of London’s intercollegiate halls. There are self-catered and catered options available and rent varies from £166 to £224 per week for a room. Your room will have a bed, wardrobe, desk, chair, and storage. Some rooms have en-suite bathrooms but some don’t so you will have to share a bathroom and shower facility if you do not book this room type. Kitchen and living areas are also shared and make for great social spaces. Laundry facilities are available on-site and contract lengths are generally 40 weeks.
