The Royal Northern College of Music was established in 1973 as a result of the merger between the Northern School of Music and the Royal Manchester College of Music. It is continuously recognised as one of the world’s most forward-thinking conservatoires. The Royal Northern College of Music has a student population of more than 900 students from over 60 different countries. They are dedicated to providing high-quality education to their students that propel them into careers as inspiring and versatile musicians. The Royal Northern College of Music provides a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs as well as short courses. They were rated Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework in 2017 and have been recognised as the leading music school in the UK for research since 2014.

Accommodation
The Royal Northern College of Music has accommodation at Sir Charles Groves Hall. They charge for standard en-suite bedrooms in groups of four during the academic year. Contract lengths are generally 42 weeks and rent is around £165 per week which includes utility bills and internet access. A 51-week studio may also be available but you will have to contact the Halls directly for more information.
Scholarships and Financial Support
All applicants that audition for a spot on a course at the Royal Northern College of Music are automatically considered for scholarships and bursaries.
