The five cheapest cities in the UK have been announced and Sheffield gained the top spot as the most affordable for students. 

The Top 5 were announced by the NatWest Student Living Index 2021 which is a survey that is focused on income, expenditure, student wellbeing and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over 2,000 students took part in the survey to reveal the most affordable cities for students in the UK. 

The results of the survey revealed the Top 5 cheapest cities as: 

  • Sheffield

The survey also revealed that throughout the pandemic, 18% of students felt supported by their university. 

Aside from this, 1 in 10 students were satisfied with the online teaching resources that were provided for them. 

Around 78% of students were offered mental health support and resources while 1 in 5 students feel that as a result of the pandemic and all that came with it including its effect on education, they are now less likely to graduate.
