About
The University of Winchester’s history traces back to 1940 after the Winchester Diocesan Training School was established. This school was established to help prepare teachers so they could educate the poor. In 1847, they changed their name to Winchester Training College. In 2005, they experienced some significant changes and gained their current name.
They were granted degree awarding abilities in 2008. The university’s campus is packed with fantastic facilities. Most of the student life is centered in the King Alfred Quarter, near Winchester. This quarter has a bar, dining hall, bookshop, café, restaurant, and more. The university was shortlisted for University of the Year in 2017 by the Times Higher Education Awards.
