About 

The University of Bolton was established back in 1825 and is a public university based in Bolton, England. The university has an urban campus which is packed with modern facilities. Set between Deane Road and Derby Street, the university has over 11,000 students. Around 25% of its student population comes from ethnic minority communities. The University of Bolton provides research opportunities whereby students can apply for PhD and Masters degrees. They are best known for their industry-relevant teaching and they offer courses such as Media and Business programs.  

The university also has several other facilities such as support and guidance to students, sporting and representation clubs. They host numerous social events throughout the academic year and have many different sports teams. Students attending can join sports groups playing football, rugby, netball, hockey, and basketball. The university has a sports hall, an eight-lane, 25-meter competition swimming pool as well as a 50-foot rock-climbing wall.  

Postgraduate Programs They Run 

The University of Bolton has a variety of postgraduate taught and postgraduate research programs to choose from. The courses span topics such as animation, civil engineering, computing, accountancy, English and creative writing, graphic design, health and social care, psychology, theatre, social work, and more. Some of the academic accreditations available include Master of Art (MA), Master of Science (MSc), Master of Law (LLM), Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert), Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).  

Admissions Process 

The University of Bolton accepts applications from students from all backgrounds. They accept UCAS points from subjects like General Studies and Critical Thinking at A2-level/AS level for a majority of courses. They also accept up to 16 points from Key Skills at levels 3 and 4, the Free-standing Mathematics qualifications or Higher Sports Leaders Awards. You can also combine points from different qualifications so long as they are not the same subject matter. Every applicant must have five GCSEs at grade 4 or above or equivalent. For some of the courses at the University of Bolton, this includes Maths and English, all the information can easily be discovered on the relevant course page. Full-time undergraduate students should make applications via UCAS.

Accommodation 

Orlando Village is the University of Bolton’s halls of residence and it provides 281 single study, self-catering bedrooms. It is just a 10-minute walk from the campus, nearby also to rail and bus links. The halls are split into eight blocks, each containing eight flats of six bedrooms. The rooms have a communal kitchen, washing facility, and WC. Orlando Village also has a communal area called ‘The Hub’ where students can play table tennis, pool, watch TV and socialise. There are two types of rooms available at Orlando Village. These include bronze rooms which are furnished with a single bed, wardrobe, shelves, desk, chair, and washbasin. The other option is silver rooms which are recently refurbished and have ¾ size beds with high-quality furnishings. All bills are included in the rent and students have access to fast Wi-Fi. Scholarships and Financial Support 

The University of Bolton has a number of scholarships available for students who need financial support. Scholarships are available for undergraduates and postgraduates. Some of the undergraduate scholarships available include the Kingfisher Engineering Scholarship, the Military Service Award, the Care Experienced Bursary, The University of Bolton Group Progression Scholarship, and the ROKiT Group Engineering Scholarship. The postgraduate scholarships are as follows: Alumni Loyalty Discount, Bolton Master’s Bursary, Military Service Award, and the Postgraduate High Achievement Award.
