About 

The University of Essex was founded in 1964 and is one of the UK’s leading universities. They have three campuses – Loughton Campus, Southend Campus, and Colchester Campus. The University of Essex has three faculties. These include the Faculty of Science and Health, Faculty of Social Sciences, and Faculty of Humanities.  

Their largest campus is Colchester Campus which houses 15,000 students coming from more than 130 different countries. They offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs spanning topics such as journalism, drama, engineering, criminology, science, and much more. In addition, they provide short courses and online programs for professionals to upskill or add to their current qualifications. They were the recipient of the gold in the TEF (Teaching Excellence Framework) previously also.  

Types of Postgraduate Programs They Run 

The University of Essex offers more than 300 different research degrees and master’s courses. These programs span subject matter such as accounting, marine biology, mathematics, management, data science, criminology, creative writing, computer science, health, languages, psychology, and more. Some of the award classifications their courses offer include Master of Science (MSc), Master of Philosophy (MPhil), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master of Art (MA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Research (MRes) and more. Some courses allow for online and distance learning.  

Admissions Process 

Applying to the University of Essex is relatively simple and straightforward. Undergraduate applications should be made via the UCAS. Simply visit their website and find the course and press apply. Then start filling out your application. Ensure you are including the correct institution and course codes in your application. You will also have to include a personal statement in your application and make sure you meet all the entry requirements of the course. Once you have completed all of that, you can submit your application. After it has been submitted, the admissions team will review it and get back to you. International students can apply in the same way if they are planning to study an undergraduate course at the University of Essex.  

Postgraduate candidates can apply online on the University of Essex website. Simply go to the website and fill in their online application form. Ensure that you meet all the entry requirements before applying and that you have all the relevant documentation to hand. You can find out what you need on the course page on their website. The online application takes no longer than 20 minutes approximately to complete. After you have submitted it, the admissions team will contact you to let you know their decision. International students can apply in the same way if they are looking to study a postgraduate program. Part-time applicants can also apply in the same way.  

Accommodation 

The University of Essex provides a range of comfortable and fun accommodation from single occupancy en-suite rooms to studios and townhouses. There is an option to suit everyone’s individual needs and budget. All of the single rooms are entirely furnished and contain a 4-foot-wide single bed with a mattress. Some rooms contain a double bed if they are premium or self-contained. In addition to your bed, you will have bookshelves, a wardrobe, a desk, a chair, a bin, and a lamp. Therefore, you will need to bring your own personal and decorative items as well as bedding and towels. Kitchens are generally shared and they have a cooker, freezer, microwave, freezer, kettle, oven, ironing board, and storage units. You will need to bring your own cutlery, crockery, pans, iron, and utensils. The cost of utilities is included in the weekly rent and you will have access to the internet, bike storage, and possibly parking. Laundry facilities are in close proximity and you will get contents insurance. To apply and secure your accommodation, you can use the University of Essex’s online portal.
