About
The University of Nottingham began as Civic College and was the first of its kind in Nottingham. Later it moved to its current main campus University Park and eventually was renamed its current name in 1948. The university has always put a huge focus on innovation and some of the subject matter its programs explore include education, geography, languages, literature, pharmacy, and veterinary science.
They are the fifth-largest university in the UK and have consistently ranked among the top UK universities. They have five faculties which have over 50 departments, schools, institutes, and research centres. They offer various programs across engineering, social sciences, art, and medicine. Their main campus is University Park but they also have other campuses. These are The Jubilee Campus, Sutton Bonington Campus, The Medical School, and King’s Meadow Campus.
Postgraduate Programs They Run
The University of Nottingham offers many different postgraduate programs which span topics such as finance, clinical practice, electronic engineering, art, economics, languages, veterinary science, and more. Some of the accreditations their courses offer include Master of Art (MA), Master of Science (MSc), Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert), Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master of Research (MRes), and more. Courses can be completed part-time or full-time and many have the option of distance learning.
Admissions Process
Full-time undergraduate applicants are to fill out an online application form and submit it via the UCAS. When applying, be sure to include the correct institution and course codes. Also, make sure that you meet all the entry requirements of the course(s) you are applying for. After you have sent off your application, the university will be in touch with you in the coming weeks to let you know if they would like to offer you a place on the course.
For postgraduate programs and part-time courses, you can apply directly using the University of Nottingham’s online system. After you have submitted your application, you will receive an email confirmation and you can begin tracking its progress. There is an application fee of £50 for postgraduate courses. Your application will not be reviewed until this fee has been paid. You will need to include copies of your degree certificate, your transcripts, and references in your application as well as any other supporting documents. After you have applied, the university will reach out to you in the coming weeks to update you on the status of your application.
Accommodation
The University of Nottingham has a wide range of student accommodation available. Room types vary with some being standard or en-suite. Some accommodation only accepts undergraduate or postgraduate students too. Some are self-catered while others are catered. Room prices vary greatly depending on the size of the room you book. All the residences are a short walk from the campuses or offer great access to transport links. Some of the facilities you can expect include parking, kitchens, bike storage, security, laundry facilities, and Wi-Fi. The rent price includes all utility bills and Wi-Fi. Every room comes with a washbasin, bed, wardrobe, desk, chair, bookshelves, noticeboard, desk lamp, personal door lock, mirror, power sockets, and coat hooks. Scholarships and Financial Support
The University of Nottingham does not have a huge number of scholarships, currently, the only one is the JC Smith Scholarship Fund.
